Retired Teachers Association scholarships awarded

The Shenandoah County Retired Teachers Association awarded $1,000 scholarships to two future teachers at a recent dinner meeting.

Christina Crider, of Toms Brook, is a student at Virginia Tech and a graduate of Central High School. Her main area of study is career and technical education/family and consumer sciences. She will use the scholarship to complete a master’s degree in technical education. She is also the recipient of the Virginia Tech Family and Consumer Sciences Outstanding Senior Award.

Brittany Crabill, of Edinburg, is a paraprofessional in the special education department and a former graduate of Central High School in Woodstock. She is studying to be a special education teacher. She was recognized by the Shenandoah County School Board this spring for completing the Competent Learner Model course of study which recognizes hundreds of hours of training as well as supervised implementation of the model with students.
