Shenandoah Valley Chorus names new director

Con Burch, of Fort Valley, has been named director of the Shenandoah Valley Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International.

She has performed as lead vocalist with numerous groups, including touring the East Coast with the bluegrass group Bill Emerson and the Sweet Dixie Band.

She was also the lead vocalist for performances of a Patsy Cline tribute at multiple theaters and venues in the region. In 2010, she released her debut CD “On My Sleeve,” which included 13 original songs.

Burch studied vocal performance and piano at Davis and Elkins College. She teaches individual voice and piano lessons through the Blue Ridge Arts Council in Front Royal and The Barns of Rose Hill in Berryville. She volunteered as musical director for Theatre Shenandoah’s shows “Guys and Dolls” and “Oliver.”

New members for the Shenandoah Valley Chorus are being sought. Rehearsals are held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each Monday at the First Christian Church, 76 Merrimans Lane, Winchester. Information: www.shenandoahvalleychorus.com.
