Weekend Events

The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:

Woodstock ROCS
John Richards and The Virginias will perform at the Woodstock ROCS Outdoor Concert Series at 7 p.m. today at W.O. Riley Park.

Gazebo Gatherings
The Moonlighters will perform at 7 p.m. today at the Gazebo Gatherings Summer Concert Series on Village Commons in Front Royal.

Concerts, which are free, are presented by the Blue Ridge Arts Council in partnership with the County of Warren, Town of Front Royal and Virginia Commission for the Arts.

Gardens at Night
The Reflex will perform at the Gardens at Night program from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St., Winchester.

Admission is free for MSV members and children 12 and under or $10 for all others.

Music Series
If Birds Could Fly will perform at the Town of New Market’s Summer Music Series from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Rebel Baseball Park.

Admission is free. Those attending are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair. There will be food available as well as a beer and wine garden. No outside food or drink allowed.

Bluemont Concert Series
Hard Swimmin’ Fish will perform funk-infused blues at 7:30 p.m. today as part of the Bluemont Concert Series at the old Frederick County Courthouse, 20 N. Loudoun St., Winchester. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and senior citizens and $2 for children under 12.

In case of bad weather the concert will be moved to the First Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Loudoun St. Information: 540-338-4640.

Film Saturday
Handley Library will be host a family film at noon Saturday showing the PG-rated movie “Space Jam.” Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch; lemonade and popcorn available. Information: www.handleyregional.org.

Waggin for Dragons
The Petco Foundation will present Waggin for Dragons to benefit the Warren County Humane Society at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Front Royal Country Club.

Watch as 16 teams of 21 paddlers and one drummer compete for the champion trophy. Food and drinks will be available.

Cake Festival
The Shenandoah Valley Cake Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday at the George Washington Hotel, 103 E. Piccadilly St. in Old Town Winchester.

A Cupcake Gala benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Reception Room at Omps, 1600 Amherst St., Winchester. Tickets, which are $30, include food and drinks.

The cake festival will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday. Kerry Vincent, a wedding cake decorator and Food Network star, will serve as the judge.

Kicking off the event will be a top decorator, local personalities friendly competition. Participants include John Hudson, vice president, marketing for Bank of Clarke County; Lauryn Ricketts, meteorologist for WRC-TV NBC4 in Washington, D.C.; Lori Sharp of WUSQ-102.5 FM radio; Katie Caler of WSHV-TV3 in Harrisonburg; Abby Major, a participant on Master Chef Junior on FOX-TV.

Other personalities making appearances will be Lauren Katz, winner of ABC-TVs The Great Holiday Baking Show; Matthew Merril, a finalist on the Food Network’s Kid’s Baking Championship, Season 2; Roland Mesnier, a retired White House pastry chef.

Model Aviation Day
The Plane Crazy RC’ers will hold an open house with demonstrations and exhibitions of remote control aircraft from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on Sulphur Springs Road off state Route 50 in Winchester. Information: 540-550-0728 or www.planecrazyrc.com.

Schultz Theatre
Schultz Theatre will present “Anne of Green Gables” at 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at 9357 N. Congress St., New Market.

Barns of Rose Hill
Greg Ruby & Friends will perform jazz music at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Barns of Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers Court, Berryville.
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Children 12 and younger are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Arts Center
The Bees? will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Plaza in downtown Luray sponsored by the Performing Arts Center of Luray.

Bright Box
Bright Box Theater has announced the following shows will be held this weekend at 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester:
• Today: 7 p.m., Terry Oates & The Mudcats with special guest Caressing Steel (Rush tribute). Tickets: $10.
• Saturday: 8 p.m., The Reflex, an 80s tribute band. Tickets: $10.
