26 teams participate in club golf tourney
The New Market Rotary Club sponsored its annual fundraising golf tournament on Sept. 7 at The Shenvalee Golf Resort in New Market.
The 11th annual playing of the tournament attracted 26 foursomes for lunch and a putting contest to benefit the local library. During the tournament, a long drive with a scholarship challenge for area high school students was conducted with the money raised added to by the club.
Awards at the buffet following the tournament were presented to the first three finishers in three flights. The first place finish was by the team of Skip Krobath, Jerry Biller, Jefferson Burgess and J. T. Hearn.
Rachel Haddad, with the Shenandoah Community Health Clinic, received a $1,000 check from Jim Douglas, Rotary golf chairman. Corey Davies, executive director of the RMH Foundation, received $5,000.00 on behalf of the Sentara-RMH Hahn Cancer Center. Scholarships and other charitable line items were funded by the tournament.
