Local clinic to host fundraising gala

A community clinic in Front Royal is hosting its 20th annual fundraising banquet Saturday at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.

The banquet is the main fundraising event for St. Luke’s Community Clinic, a health care provider for low income and uninsured individuals.

Vickie Davies, clinic executive, said she’s hoping to raise more than $25,000 at the event to fuel the clinic’s philanthropy.

“This is our biggest fundraiser we have all year, and this is the 20th, so it’s going to be a big one,” she said.

Tickets to the event cost $50 and include a meal, along with wine or beer.

Attendees can also participate in a live auction, a silent auction, or with two different raffles. Some of the larger ticket items include an airfare and cruise package, a two-week stay in a house on the beach, and canoe trips from Skyline Caverns.

Several more modestly priced items include gift cards to McDonalds, Joe’s Steak House, movie tickets and bowling passes.

The clinic’s founder, Dr. Furadoon Irani, is also selling an original painting of a low water bridge in Front Royal.

Davies said there are a few banquet tickets and raffle slots still up for sale, and last-minute purchases are accepted. To purchase a ticket, call 540-636-4325 and follow instructions to speak with Cheri Merchant.
