WINCHESTER – The eighth annual Patsy Cline Classic will feature an encore performance by country music star Vince Gill in November.

Gill performed for the previous classic last September. Bonnie Blue Concerts producer Christian Schweiger said tickets sold out within 24 hours of becoming available. He formally announced that Gill would be returning at a Thursday morning news conference at Handley High School’s Patsy Cline Theatre, where the concert will be held on Nov. 10.

“Last year, when Vince Gill came to this auditorium, he mesmerized his whole audience,” Schweiger said.

He said that during Gill’s concert last year, he told Gill’s manager he could’ve filled the auditorium two or three times over with all the interest in Gill’s show and asked if the classic could showcase his talent again.

Gill, 59, has won 20 Grammy awards – the most of any male country artist – and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007. He hosted the Country Music Awards from 1992 to 2003. He’s recorded 18 studio albums, with “Down to My Last Bad Habit” released in February.

In previous years, the classic has featured artists Willie Nelson, The Beach Boys and LeAnn Rimes.

Russ Potts, the Winchester Education Foundation’s executive director, introduced the announcement on Thursday by talking about the miniature “hall of fame” that the classic has brought to the Patsy Cline Theatre.

“This really will answer the requests of so many people who…couldn’t get tickets last year,” he said.

He said that there will be two reserved seats in the auditorium for Patsy Cline and her husband Charlie Dick, who passed away on Nov. 8, 2015. Potts said Dick was enthused to learn that Gill was performing at the classic last year.

Tickets for Gill’s show in November will become available at 6 a.m. Friday, and Chris Mitchell of Q102-FM said he expects the tickets to sell out just as quickly as they did last year.

“If you missed the last time he was here, you’ve got one chance,” he said.
