A celebration with kisses: First Bank surpasses United Way goal
STRASBURG – First Bank has exceeded its United Way of the Northern Shenandoah Valley campaign goal by over $7,000. In celebration, bank managers kissed farm animals on Thursday morning.
First Bank CEO Scott Harvard said they raised $47,150, exceeding their goal of $40,000.
He added this achievement showed the level of commitment the company has toward its community and wanting to help others in need.
“Giving back to this community is part of this company’s culture,” he said. “It’s part of the fabric of who we are.”
Debbie Bly, executive assistant at First Bank, said employees really stepped up this year and made a difference in the community.
“You have given somebody the ability to rewrite the ending of their story by donating to the United Way,” she told employees. “It’s cool outside and we walked to our closets and got our coats and came on out, but there are children who are getting on school buses this morning that don’t have the choice of going to the closet and getting a warm coat. With your donations and through the United Way, we will alleviate some of that.”
