Card shower
A card shower is planned for Gene T. Pol, who will celebrate his 89th birthday Nov. 4. Cards can be sent to 1328 Pepper Road, Mount Jackson 22842.

The Civitan organization, which supports adults with intellectual disabilities, will hold a ribbon cutting and initiation of new officers at 6 p.m. today at the Lee-Jackson in Winchester.

The Conicville Volunteer Fire Department will host a children’s Halloween party from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday for ages infant to 12 years. A costume-judging contest will be held at 3 p.m.

The Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg will hold a fall festival from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday. Featured will be hunting around the library for treats, crafts, stories and spooky surprises. Costumes optional.

The New Market Area Library will have trick-or-treat fun from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Costumes encouraged.

Bowman Library in Stephens City will host a teen Halloween movie night starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Costumes encouraged but not required. Refreshments include pocky, mochi and popcorn.

The Rotary Club of Woodstock sponsored a highway clean up on Oct. 15 along state Route 11 in Woodstock. More than two dozen Rotarians, family members and teen Interact Club members participated.
