Hunt for ghosts, pumpkins at Spookcessible

Kids with special needs can enjoy the holiday season at the Spookcessible event Oct. 18 in Winchester.

Leslie Bowery, special event coordinator for Winchester Parks and Recreation, said the event will be held at 10 a.m. at the Children’s Dream area at Jim Barnett Park in Winchester.

“Children with special needs can come out and hunt for ‘ghosts,’ which they collect to then turn in for a Halloween goodie bucket,” she said. “After collecting their goodie bucket they can then go to the pumpkin patch and find a pumpkin gourd that they may take home with them.”

She added that the free event has been held since 2008 with about 75 in attendance each year.

In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the gymnasium.
