WINCHESTER — Frank, a 7 to 10-year-old neutered male retriever-setter mix is looking for a new owner to snuggle with.

After being found as a stray and not yet picked up at the Winchester-Frederick Rockaplenty Adoption Center at 111 Featherbed Lane in Winchester, Frank is biding his time awaiting a new owner.

Lindy Scott, dog kennel manager, touted Frank’s temperament and affectionate disposition.

“He seems to always want to be petted,” she said. “He’s real loveable. He’s awesome. … He’s a mellow guy. He just wants you to love on him all the time. … He’s a great companion dog.”

He’s not much for playing, Scott said, noting that he’s more concerned about  getting affection.

“He wants to be pampered,” Scott said. “He wants a family to pamper him.”

Scott said that Frank is good with other dogs and has been submissive and shy in his limited experience with cats at the shelter.

She described the kind of folks who would be best suited to take Frank home.

“I think he’d do great with kids,” she said. That’s just my opinion. We kind of have to learn as we go, though. I don’t see him snapping at a child. I think he’d be good with a family too, or an older couple because he doesn’t really pull on the leash that hard.”

Frank is a healthy older guy and eats a normal diet. He’s up to date on all his shots, including rabies, and he’s dewormed. He’s also microchipped.

Frank is also a quiet fellow. Scott said she doesn’t think she’s ever heard him bark.
