Race for Seizure Freedom this Sunday
Winchester will hold its first Race for Seizure Freedom Sunday in support of those with epilepsy.
Gina Washington, regional director of Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia in the northwest and northern Virginia office, said the race will be held at Clarke County Parks & Recreation’s Nature Trail, which is an official 5K distance and those participating can either walk or run the distance.
“We are so excited,” she said.
Speakers at the event include Epileptologist Paul Lyons and Neurosurgeon Lee Selznick. Various pharmaceutical representatives and others from the Valley Health Neuroscience Center will be at the event as well, she added.
Prizes will be awarded to the Top 2 Males, Top 2 Females and Top Fundraiser.
For kids, there will also be FacePaint by Rachel and a petting zoo by Pony2Go.
The race will begin at 11 a.m.
