Retired teachers group meets

District G Retired Teachers Association met for a business meeting/lunch at Traditions Restaurant in Harrisonburg in October. The meeting included program by Robert Reedy and the Shenandoah Valley Minstrels, and featured patriotic songs and tributes to veterans.

President Karen Whetzel, of New Market, reported on the Virginia Retired Teachers Association fall meeting in Richmond. Each unit in District G (Augusta, Bath/Highland, Page and Shenandoah) received a certificate for giving a scholarship last year. State legislative chairperson Bea Morris, of Harrisonburg, gave a legislative report and encouraged all members to vote. Other officers are Shirley Crawford, of Verona, vice president; Katherine Ralston, of McDowell, secretary; and Jim Hines, of Mount Jackson, treasurer.
