A thousand books

Several children participated in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at Samuels Public Library on Jan. 14.
Since its inception, over 375 children have participated and almost 20 children have surpassed the 1,000-book goal. When each milestone is reached, children gather for a themed party celebrating their accomplishments. At the January party, children savored pumpkin pancakes based on the story “If You Give a Pig a Pancake.” Participating in the event were, front row, left to right, John West, Adelaide Griffeth, Rebecca Smith, Thomas Baldwin, Annabelle Baldwin, Amanda Baldwin, Benjamin Smith; back row, Youth Services Assistant Pattie McHugh, Charlotte Griffeth and Lindsey West.
