The New Market Library will hold a Books and Babies story-time program for ages birth to 3 years at 10 a.m. on Friday. Information: 740-8589.

Handley Regional Library in Winchester has announced the following children’s activities will be held:
• Dance party: 10:30 a.m., Fridays for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their grownups.
• Construction Club: 4-5 p.m. on Fridays and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays.

Concert
The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Shenandoah Valley in Stephens City will host a performance by guitarist Jim Scott at 6 p.m. Friday.

Scott has recorded or shared the stage with luminaries from the jazz, classical and folk music worlds at Carnegie Hall, the Newport Jazz Festival and Paul Winter Consort along with performing at the Great Peace March with folk legends Pete Seeger and Peter Yarrow.

Lecture
Author and historian Jennifer Ackerman will discuss her book “The Genius of Birds” at the Meet the Author Book Lover’s Lecture Series sponsored by the Foundation of the State Arboretum and the Northern Shenandoah Valley Audubon Society from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Blandy Experimental Farm in Boyce.

A book signing and refreshments will follow. The cost is $25 or $20 for Foundation and NSVAS members.

Scholarship
March 21 is the deadline to apply for the Marge Moyers Scholarship for seniors in Shenandoah County planning to attend college to become a teacher.

The scholarship honors the late Marge Moyers, who was a teacher and school board member in the county. She was also the first teacher to be named Shenandoah County Teacher of the Year.
