Bill Streett, operations chief for Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue, will be the speaker at the luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of New Market at noon Wednesday at Shenvalee Golf Resort in Miller Grille.

The Mt. View Lutheran Parish, which includes Mt. Zion and St. Luke churches, will hold a Lenten service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion, 3055 Fairview Road, Woodstock. A soup meal will precede the service at 6:15 p.m.

ShenCo Special Olympics will host a basketball tournament from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the new gym at Central High School in Woodstock.

The Forbes Center for Performing Arts at James Madison University will host a recital by Doug Varone and his New York-based contemporary dance company at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $33-$38. Information: www.jmuforbescenter.com.

The Blue Ridge Kiwanis of Winchester will meet at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Best Western-Lee Jackson in Perkin’s Restaurant.

The guest speaker will be Joyce Stabile, vice president and mortgage loan officer at First Bank in Winchester, who will share her experiences living in a shelter and suffering domestic abuse.

Food pantry
The Bread of Life Food Pantry in Woodstock will distribute food from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday and March 21. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 459-1928.

The Barns of Rose Hill in Berryville will present a concert by The Honey Dewdrops along with Zoe & Cloyd at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Foster care
The Embrace Treatment Foster Care team will hold two open houses for adults interested in learning more about foster care.
