The In-Town and Out-of-Town Miss Honorary Fire and Rescue Chief pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Morgan Middle School.

Competing in the In-Town contest are Gabrielle Christine Bauer, Kyleigh Janiece Clark, Meghan Elyse Clark, Hanna Arerill DeMeester, Sophia Hawthorne Dorsey, Kristen Grace Enns, Julia Katherine Holsinger, Camryn Grace Madagan and McKenzie Rose Whittington.

Competing in the Out-of-Town contest are Arielle Ann Kowaleski, Kellie Nichole Lloyd, Cortney Lynn McDonald, Madison Ryman Pattie, Abbey Charlotte Rinker and Kayla Marie Stout.

Tickets, which are $5, will be sold at the door.

The A Ray of Hope Relay for Life Team will sponsor a benefit breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s Restaurant in Riverton Commons, Front Royal.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for ages 3-5. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, tea and juice.

The Shenandoah Valley Quilters Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Retirement Community in Harrisonburg.

Results of the Tear and Share challenge will be announced. Mississippi award-winning art quilter Julia Graber will present the program. There will also be show and tell, raffle and refreshments.

Graber will lead an afternoon workshop demonstrating techniques used to create “Only A Lily,” which took first place at the National Quilt Museum’s ‘New Quilts from an Old Favorite’ contest in 2014. She will also hold an all-day workshop on Friday on fusing fabric patches to a background grid.

Bowman Library in Stephens City will host a free family film and picnic from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday featuring the movie “The Secret Life of Pets.” Popcorn and lemonade served.

St. John’s Lutheran Church will hold Mocha and a Message, a contemporary worship service with coffee and dessert, at 6 p.m. Saturday at 3623 Back Mountain Road, Winchester. An offering will be received to benefit community outreach programs.

Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will host Kooky Chefs Cook the World: Ireland at 11 a.m. Saturday for ages 6 and older.

Fairview United Methodist Church in Stephens City will hold a pancake breakfast and silent auction from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. A free-will offering will be accepted for breakfasts.

The Strasburg United Methodist Men’s Ministry will hold an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Soup and sandwiches will be sold.

The Shenandoah County Extension office has announced the following programs will be held:
• Registration for the Northern Distinct 4-H Leaders and NOVA West 4-H All Stars spring conference will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the county Government Center in Woodstock.
• The 4-H Share-the-Fun contest will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Information: 459-6140.

Flea market
Connie’s Crusaders will sponsor an indoor flea market starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Front Royal Church of the Brethren. Lunch sold. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

A chicken barbecue and bake sale to benefit the Maur/Brook/Olive Ruritan Club will be held starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Tractor Supply in Woodstock.

The Massanutten Antique Tractor Club will sponsor a chicken barbecue starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wholesome Foods pit in Edinburg. The cost is $4 per half. Proceeds will benefit local charities. There will also be tractors on display and kids can ride the Barrel Train.

The Peter Muhlenberg Middle School FFA Club will sponsor a make-and-take rain barrel workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday.

A Longaberger, Thirty-One and theme baskets bingo will be held starting at 11 a.m.  Saturday at the New Market Fire and Rescue Squad.

Doors open at 10 a.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. There will also be food, raffles, 50/50 and pre-sale drawing. Proceeds will benefit the New Market firework display.

The Warren County Middle School PTSO will hold a spring craft/vendor show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the school cafeteria.

Special guests will be Marshall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Easter Bunny from 1 to 3 p.m. Pictures will be available for $5.

A Gun Bash and dinner to benefit the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund will be held  Saturday at the Old Round Hill Community Fire and Rescue Station in Winchester.

Strasburg Presbyterian Church will host bingo Saturday to benefit Powhatan Ruritan Club’s community service projects.

A benefit Vera Bradley, Premier Designs and Thirty-One Bingo will be held Saturday at the John H. Enders Fire Hall in Berryville to benefit the Blue Ridge Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship.

Jenny VanCuren, author of “When Shadows Fade,” a mystery thriller, will be the speaker at the New Market Library at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Blue Ridge Housing Network and People Inc. will offer a free homebuyer class from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Behind the Open Door Baptist Church, 1437 Front Royal Road, Winchester.

Local experts will give presentations on personal finance, credit and credit issues, working with the lender, role of the real estate agent, the home inspection and the loan closing.

Certificates of completion will be given, which fulfills the education requirement for down-payment assistance programs and loan products.
