A card shower is planned for Bob and Linda Wymer, who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Cards can be sent to 163 Daniel Court, Strasburg, Virginia 22657.

A benefit for Lydia’s Clothes Closet will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Strasburg United Methodist Church. Soup and sandwiches will be available for $8 or soup by the quart for $10. There will also be a silent auction.

The Turner Ashby chapter 184 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stine House, Fort Collier Civil War Center in Winchester.

The Shenandoah County Extension office in Woodstock has announced the following 4-H activities will be held:
• 4-H Share-the-Fun rehearsal will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock.
• The Fort Valley 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 4:30 p.m.  Sunday at the community center.
• The 4-H All Stars will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Extension office.
• The New Market 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 6:30 p.m.  Monday at Reformation Lutheran Church.

April 1 is the deadline to submit nominations to the Shenandoah County Historical Society for its yearly awards recognizing history, architecture, material culture (includes textiles, documents, folk art, photographs, tools) and scenic beauty. Historic objects or materials must be at least 60 years old.

Nomination forms are available at county libraries, museums and town historical societies and by contacting 459-1795 or email schs.va@gmail.com.
