The Shenandoah County Fair will host classic rock headliner Styx this summer during the annual fair.

The 100th anniversary of the Shenandoah County Fair will be held Aug. 25 through Sept. 2 in Woodstock and will feature Styx at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1.

Tom Eshelman, general manager of the Shenandoah County Fair Association, said the band has never appeared in this area before. The closest arena it has performed at is the Jiffy Lube arena in Bristow.

He added that he anticipates a sell-out of tickets for the popular American rock band.

Styx signed its first record contract 45 years and has remained a crowd-favorite since forming in Chicago in the 1970s.

Reserve tickets go on sale online beginning at 6 a.m. March 13 through ETIX at www.shencofair.com. Click on the Styx ticket link. Approximately 2,700 seats will be available. Seating categories include Premium Track, Regular Track and Grandstand seating.

Eshelman said comparable bands that have performed at the fair include rock bands REO Speedwagon and Kansas.

The fair will also host two rising country music stars – William Michael Morgan and High Valley.

William Michael Morgan will appear on stage at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31. He is known for his No. 1 country hit “I Met A Girl.”

Country duo High Valley will open for William Michael Morgan. The duo’s current Top 25 hit, “Make You Mine,” has been on the charts for 20 weeks.

Reserve tickets for these two peformances will go on sale online only at 6 a.m. today through ETIX at www.shencofair.com.
