Food drive
Area U.S. Postal letter carriers will collect food items Saturday as part of the Stamp Out Hunger campaign to benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Residents are asked to leave nonperishable food items at their mailbox for postal workers to collect. Information: www.brafb.org.

4-H
The Shenandoah County Extension office in Woodstock has announced the following activities and meetings:
• Fort Valley 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the community center.
• County 4-H and FFA sheep, goat, swine and dairy entries are due Monday at the Extension office. Late entries with an additional fee will be accepted until the end of weigh-in on June 3.
• Lebanon Church 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the community center.

Service
The Women’s Memorial Society will hold its annual Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Matthews Cemetery in New Market. In case of bad weather, the service will be held inside Reformation Church.

The speaker will be Teresa Roane, of Richmond, who will talk about the importance of preserving Confederate memorials and monuments.

Minister Kenneth Whetzel will provide the invocation and benediction. Massanutten Military Academy Pipes and Drums will play before the service. Director Sean Regan will perform a bagpipe solo during the service.

Stonewall Jackson High School students Angela Misquith will sing and Isaiah Wolverton will play Taps.

The VMI color guard will participate and the names of cadets lost during the Battle of New Market will be read.

Fund drive
The Woodstock Volunteer Rescue Squad is conducting its annual photo fund drive. For each donation received, the Rescue Squad will offer a complimentary professional family portrait. Portraits will be taken from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 9 at the station at 132 W. Reservoir Road, Woodstock.

Crafters
Middletown’s Fourth of July committee is seeking crafters for this year’s July 4th celebration. The cost for a 10×10 space is $25. Information: Tammy Batcha at 540-550-1971.
