The Humane Society of Warren County will waive adoption fees “Fur Mom Day” today through Sunday. Adoptable animals will be available all weekend at the animal shelter on Progress Drive and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Petco in Front Royal and Pet Valu in Winchester. While adoption fees are waived, new pet owners will still be responsible for spay/neuter costs, however, many adoptables are already fixed. Information: 540-635-4734.
St. John’s United Church of Christ in Hamburg will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday. A free-will offering will be accepted to benefit a local family in need.
The Riverton United Methodist Church will hold a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. A good-will offering will be accepted.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry in Woodstock will distribute food from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 459-1928.
The Strasburg Chamber of Commerce will host a ‘paint nite’ from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hotel Strasburg as part of kick-off events for this year’s Mayfest Celebration.
The event will be led by artist Jenae Jenkins. Tickets are $45 per person. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets, information: www.paintnite.com.

Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will hold the following activities:
• The Maker Club: 4:30 p.m., Tuesday for school-aged children. The theme will be the circus.

Blue Ridge Housing Network and People Inc. will offer free homebuyer classes on the following schedule:

• Shenandoah County: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., May 20 at Farmers & Merchants Bank, 161 S. Main St., Woodstock.
Local experts will give presentations on personal finance, credit and credit issues, working with the lender, role of the real estate agent, the home inspection and the loan closing.
Certificates of completion will be given, which fulfills the education requirement for down-payment assistance programs and loan products.

May 19 is the deadline to register for a workshop led by Master Gardeners titled Special Gardens for Small Spaces from 2 to 4 p.m. May 28 at Belle Grove Plantation south of Middletown.
Participants will be provided folders containing design ideas for each of the topic gardens, a list of suggested plants for each and a take-home bag of seeds and or plant(s) to get started.
