KidzFest returns to Old Town for family fun
Old Town Winchester will hold KidzFest on Saturday with art, music, sports and educational opportunities for the entire family.
Downtown Manager Jennifer Bell said this will be the fourth annual KidzFest along the Loudoun Street pedestrian mall. The first event was held in 2014 with attendance remaining consistent at more than 3,000 people each year. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
“KidzFest is by children and for children,” she said. “It is for all ages but attendees tend to be preschool, elementary and middle school age. There is also considerable information for parents about summer camps, classes and other local recreational and cultural activities.”
According to an Old Town Winchester news release, KidzFest will feature live entertainment, interactive music, activities and over 50 exhibits. Friendly competitions of soccer and field goal kicking, free-throw shooting and football toss will keep the kids active, along with arts and crafts, music exhibits and a magic show. Fort Loudoun and Stonewall Jackson Headquarters will have historic activities during the day as well.
Bell added that this free, family friendly event will keep every member of the family entertained.
“Children love watching other children perform, whether karate or gymnastics or music,” Simmons said. “They love the numerous free activities where they can make something. They also enjoy the free entertainment on the 1840 Courthouse lawn including a live animal show, music and dance performances.”
