Princesses named to queen's court

Winchester Festival princesses Five students have been named princesses in the court of the queen of the 83rd Apple Blossom Festival April 23-May 1. Representing Lord Fairfax Community College is Brittany N. Green, daughter of Sheila and Rickey Green of Mt. Jackson and granddaughter of Bonnie Proctor of Mt. Jackson, Betty and Bill Green of Quicksburg and Janet Lonas of Woodstock. A sophomore science major, she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, vice president of fundraising and was homecoming queen. Representing Shenandoah University is Alexis M. Hargbol, daughter of Michele and Dana Hargbol of Manassas and granddaughter of Constance and Thomas Mitro of Richmond. A senior majoring in pharmacy, she is the 2009 homecoming queen and a member of the basketball team. Representing Massanutten Military Academy is Jonnie L. Herndon, daughter of Billie and Tom Herndon of Jacksonville, Fla., and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Herndon of Live Oak, Fla., and Emma Womack of Ohio. Winchester Festival princesses Three students have been named princesses in the court of the queen of the 83rd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, April 23 through May 1. Representing the West Virginia Horticultural Society is Rachel K. Burkhart, daughter of Karen and Mark Burkhart of Martinsburg, W.Va., and granddaughter of Marcella Dodd of Amherst, Ohio, and Geneva Burkhart of Martinsburg. A freshman at West Virginia University, majoring in speech pathology, she is a graduate of Martinsburg High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club. She played varsity basketball and volleyball and was captain of both teams her senior year. Representing the Virginia Horticultural Society is Whitney P. Drumheller, daughter of Michelle Leyva of Richmond and Joanne and Kevin Drumheller of Lovingston and granddaughter of Diane Dilley, Larry Weesner and Doris Drumheller, all of Lovingston. Apple Blossom maids of honor announced

Four young women have been named maids of honor in the court of the queen of the 83rd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, April 23-May 2. Cassie R. Huntsberry, daughter of Kathy and David Huntsberry and granddaughter of Getty Huntsberry, all of Winchester, is a sophomore at Bridgewater College, majoring in psychology. She is a graduate of Handley High School where she was a varsity cheerleader and a member of the competition cheer squad. Her father was president of the festival in 2001-2002. Lindsey C. Lawler, daughter of Cathy and Robert Lawler Jr. of Winchester and granddaughter of Patricia and Irvin Painter and Anne Lawler, all of Luray, is a freshman at Lord Fairfax Community College, majoring in dental hygiene. She is a graduate of Handley High School and a member of the Braddock Street Methodist Church. She volunteers at the Free Medical Clinic and the festival. B.
