Local Alpha Omicron members attend international convention in D.C.
Two members of Alpha Omicron Chapter of Virginia Alpha Delta Kappa, Elizabeth “Liz” Riffey and Shirley Moyers, as well as president of the international men’s association William “Bill” Moyers, all of Woodstock, attended the 28th annual Alpha Delta Kappa International Convention in Washington, D.C. this summer.
Author Jason F. Wright of Woodstock spoke at the program about the importance of family, friends and sisterhood to one’s success in life and ability to maintain footing.
According to participants, speakers at the convention were all very interesting. Denise Juneau, a Jacqueline Lougheed world understanding lecturer, spoke at the Educational Symposium. She was born to Indian parents and raised on the Blackfoot reservation, and is the first American Indian to achieve her position in charge of education in her state.
The second speaker was Wright, and the third was Michelle Schearer, 2011 National Teacher of the Year from Maryland. She told Alpha Delta Kappa sisters to continue to be “selflessly dedicated to someone else’s success.”
