Veterinary hospital to host Biggest Loser for cats, dogs
Seven Bends Veterinary Hospital will host its second Biggest Loser Contest for cats and dogs in the community. The goal is to raise awareness of obesity in pets and educate you how to help your pet live longer, healthier and happier lives. There are many problems associated with obesity. Some of these include diabetes, arthritis, joint and ligament injuries, increased anesthesia risk, cardio and respiratory problems and decreased life span.
The contest starts Oct. 7 and continues for 16 weeks. There is no cost to participate. Your pet does not need to be a client of Seven Bends. Weigh-ins will be at the clinic every two weeks. There are winners at the end of each weigh in week, as well as an overall cat and dog winner at the end of the competition. The winners will be determined by the largest percent of body weight lost The grand prize is a “goodie” basket with a value of over $500.
Even if a dog or cat is just a few pounds overweight, it could mean the beginning of serious health problems. Signing up for this contest can be the kick-start you and your pet need to begin a healthier lifelong change together.
