Chelsea Thorpe celebrates first birthday

Chelsea Lynn Thorpe of Front Royal celebrated her first birthday on Aug. 22. The birthday girl had a Mickey Mouse birthday theme and Mickey, or, as Chelsea says, “Gickey,” entertained the toddler and her guests.

Chelsea was born prematurely, weighing 2 lbs. 8 oz. at birth in Winchester Medical Center. A year later she has made amazing progress and is now 20 lbs. Chelsea is sitting up, crawling, cruising and jabbering endlessly. She is reaching her milestones both physically and developmentally with hopeful optimism.

In attendance was her daddy Mike and grandparents, Major Roger Kemp, USAF, Ret. and his wife Ruth, from North Carolina. Chelsea’s aunt and uncle and godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Thomas Jr., of Manassas also attended. Mrs. Brenda Metz, a close family friend, drove from Pennsylvania to be with Chelsea on her special day as well as Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Ward of Christiansburg and Chelsea’s nanny Kristina Brooks.

Chelsea’s birthday guests included Cheyanna “Annie” Muhlert, Joey Smith, Rachel Beach, Cole Graves, Elizabeth and Michael Ward.

The family describes Chelsea as an amazing child and a passionate little fighter with exceptional determination and purpose. She has faced her obstacles with a smile and an unwavering heart. Chelsea has brought unconditional love and joy into the lives of her family and is a miracle child is truly a gift from God.
