Music festival director surprised by recognition of 50th year
The Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors has recognized the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary season for its contributions to the community.
Festival organizers and the audience were surprised by the recognition, delivered by County Supervisor Dennis Morris before the “1964”…The Tribute concert on Sept. 1.
The Shenandoah County government has supported the festival with an annual contribution from the county budget since the festival’s early years. The funds contributed are matched by the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
Upon accepting a plaque from Morris, festival director Dennis Lynch said the festival is pleased to have the support of the county and the recognition it brings.
The festival recently completed its Orkney Springs concert season.
The Shenandoah Valley Music Festival’s 2013 summer season presenting level sponsor is First Bank; The Gold level sponsors are Shenandoah Memorial Hospital-Valley Health, Shentel and Sprint. The Silver level sponsors are Holtzman Corp., ShelRand Enterprises and Shrine Mont. The Bronze level sponsors are Graves-Light Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisers, IRIS Partners LLP, Johnston and Rhodes Real Estate, Kline May Realty/Cottonwood Commercial, Loudoun Mutual Insurance Company, Massanutten Military Academy, McEnearney Associates, Mountain Valley Management Inc.-Steve Stein, Rodney Shepherd-ING Financial Services and Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury.
In addition to the Holiday Inn Express, the official hotel of the 2013 Music Festival, the festival’s 2013 official caterer is Shaffer’s Barbecue and Catering, and the ticket sponsor is Shenandoah Caverns.
