Randolph-Macon Academy names middle school award winners
The Randolph-Macon Academy Middle School in Front Royal held its fall sports awards ceremony Monday morning at 8 a.m., Nov. 18 in the middle school dining hall. All of the coaches praised the players for their dedication to their respective teams, and several indicated that it was extremely difficult to make the selections for their awards. The following students were singled out for special recognition:
In cross-country, seventh grader Caleb Nielsen of Winchester was named MVP, and the coaches’ awards went to sixth grader Amandeep Atwal of Springfield and eighth grader Erik Wagner of Arlington.
In golf, seventh grader Jacob Karen of Winchester was named MVP, and the coaches’ award went to eighth grader Javon Farmer of Haymarket. The most improved player was seventh grader Ian Mounts of Ashland, Ohio
In soccer, eighth grader Ryan Latham of Amissville was named MVP. Eighth grader Filippo Bandera of Invorio, Italy, was named the highest goal scorer; eighth grader Sarah Vaughan of Front Royal received the coaches’ award, and eighth grader Cailen Baggett of Winchester was named most improved player.
In volleyball, eighth grader Angel Njoku of Leesburg was named MVP. The coaches’ award went to eighth grader Elenda Liyel-Imoke of Ellicott City, Md., and the most improved player was eighth grader Tina Tian of Nanjing, China.
