Winchester’s Eddie McClellan receives honor by SAR

The Col. James Wood II Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution announced that Deputy Chief Eddie McClellan of Winchester was to be honored at a ceremony last Saturday for meritorious service in the line of duty, along with Senior Trooper Paul Domingoes of Warrenton and Captain Aerts “Buddy” Colby of Purcellville.

The awards are sponsored by the Col. James Wood II Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution serving the Northern Shenandoah Valley, Loudoun and Fauquier counties.

The Police Award was awarded to Domingoes, the Fire Service Award to Colby and the Rescue Award to MeClellan.The recognition consisted of certificates, medals and small cash awards.

The awards were to be presented at the awards breakfast at the Lee Jackson Motel, with Lt. James Rust of Purcellville and member of the chapter presenting the awards. Rust chairman of the selection committee, was a recipient of the Police Award several years ago.

The Col. James Wood II Chapter is a new chapter in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In February the chapter was designated the outstanding large chapter in Virginia by the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

To be a member of the SAR, a man must have a direct descendent, who fought in the American Revolution or performed service contributing to the success of the American Revolutionary War.
