Front Royal Kiwanis Club honors Tom Curry
The Kiwanis Club of Front Royal has selected Tom Curry as its Kiwanian of the Year.
During the past year, Curry was instrumental in leading the Kiwanis Club of Front Royal to make a $6,000 pledge over two years, helping to finance new playground equipment at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School.
Curry also joined other volunteers in helping paint a map of the United States at E. Wilson Morrison.
Curry was active in supporting efforts by Kiwanis-sponsored youth programs — including the Key Club, Builders Club and K-Kids programs at local schools.
He also has helped arrange joint efforts between the Front Royal Kiwanis and other local civic organizations.
Curry, who has been a member since 2007, has served the club in a variety of offices including club president.
Every year the Kiwanis Club in Front Royal honors a member who has demonstrated outstanding service to the club and to the community. The selection is made through a secret ballot of members.
The Kiwanis year runs Oct. 1 through Sept. 30.
Kiwanis clubs focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time.
