Alpha Omicron meets for December meeting
The local chapter of the women educator’s sorority Alpha Delta Kappa, Alpha Omicron held a meeting in December with guest speaker Elizabeth “Liz” Riffey, who is in her second two year term as president and is the current Virginia Alpha Delta Kappa technology coordinator.
Riffey was a teacher at Central High School and she retired in June, 2013. Since then she has returned to Central to teach on a part-time basis this year.
The sorority meets monthly during the school year and focuses on altruistic projects such as a scholarship for a future teacher, collecting food for Luke’s Backpack, and supporting other good causes. Most recently, the group met at President-Elect Susan Fleming’s house for a holiday soup supper. The members present each created a holiday centerpiece organized by Fleming! Cards were signed for members who could not attend.
