DuPont Community Credit Union offers scholarship

DuPont Community Credit Union has announced that for the 19th year it will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior at each of the 19 high schools in the DCCU service area. Included are Shenandoah County Public Schools and Harrisonburg City Public Schools.

Scholarships also will be awarded to one student who attends private school, one who is home schooled, a DCCU member living outside the service area, and one adult student continuing his or her education.

A total of $21,000 in scholarships will be awarded, and the deadline for applications is April 18.

Applicants will conduct research and write a 300-500 word essay based on the following questions:

“What role does a credit union play in the lives of its members and the community? Does the credit union governance structure and associated aspects impact the financial services industry? How?”

The application and essay can be completed online at www.mydccu.com, and the applicant is required to complete the assignment on their own. If the applicant does not have Internet access, they may visit a DCCU office to complete the requirements. Scholarship winners will be announced by May 16.
