Handley Library to use grant money for comics, graphic novels

Handley Regional Library has announced it received a $1,000 grant from the Young Adult Library Services Association and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to purchase summer reading resources for teens. The funding will be used for purchasing comics and graphic novels with an emphasis on acquiring Spanish materials.

Graphic novels, book-length forms of the traditional comic book, have been around for some time but are increasingly popular among young adult readers. The content and story lines are richer and higher in quality than the usual comic book.
