Alpha Omicron sorority announces new members

They are Susan Sanderlin, a special education teacher at Central High School; Amanda Furman, an ELL teacher at Ashby-Lee Elementary School; Lisa Gibson, librarian at Stonewall Jackson High School; and Melissa Wright, a physical education teacher at W.W. Robinson Elementary School.

The chapter plans to present a scholarship this spring to a student studying to become a teacher and who collects food for Luke’s Backpack at every meeting.

Current president is Elizabeth “Liz” Riffey, a retired Central High School librarian who teaches one class in Earth Science at the school this year. She is president of the Blue Ridge District of Virginia Alpha Delta Kappa. President-elect Susan Fleming, a retired Central High School teacher and athletic director, will become president this spring.
