Chelsea Academy’s Medieval Festival a success

Chelsea Academy of Front Royal has announced it held its third annual Medieval Festival on May 9, preparing many weeks to transport the campus back to the medieval era. Students, faculty, and parents worked together to make the day of games and activities a success.

Dr. Joe Sladky, Chelsea history and math teacher, organized the event. Students wrote, directed and acted in original plays and puppet shows and also staged scenes from William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” and sang and played medieval songs. An alchemist turned pennies into silver, and students portrayed artists, engineers, performers and builders. Younger festival visitors enjoyed pony rides, face painting, crafts, jousting, archery and more.
