Local Beta Sigma Phi chapter announces year’s activities
The Virginia Eta Chi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi announced that over the last year it held several service projects, fundraisers and social activities.
Its Beginning Day Tea took place at the home of Susan Chicchetto, with a private tour of the free clinic in Woodstock before it opened.
Last August, its annual steak and shrimp dinner was at the home of Jack and Pat Turley of Basye. Other social events included a trip to see the play “Sister Act” at the Kennedy Center, a day at Sangamore Farm in Maryland, the annual Christmas party, a visit to Spa 122 in New Market and a Valentine’s Day meal at Joe’s Steakhouse in Woodstock when Sharon Smitherman was elected Valentine Queen.
Fundraisers included a jewelry party, a Thirty-One party and a silent auction.
Service projects included donations of books and baby items for Small Hands, food pantry supplies, pregnancy center supplies, quarters and candy bars for local senior citizens and donations to the Jody Wolverton fund and Luke’s backpack.
Officers elected for next year are President Pat Turley, Vice-President Sharon DiNardo, recording Secretary Karen McInteer, Treasurer Susan Chichetto, corresponding Secretary Candi LoPresti and Historian Debbie Swecker.
