R-MA Middle School spends week at STARBASE academy

Randolph-Macon Academy Middle School in Front Royal announced recently it would spend a week at The Winchester STARBASE Academy. DoD STARBASE is a Department of Defense Youth Program designed to stimulate young students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

At DoD STARBASE, students participate in “hands-on, minds-on” activities that allow them to explore STEM careers and how STEM principles apply in the “real world.” The schedule ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day last week and the fun, intense curriculum was to include Newton’s Laws of Motion, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, nanotechnology, engineering design, navigation and other STEM principles.

The Winchester STARBASE Academy is located in the 116th Army National Guard Armory in Winchester, VA. For more information about DoD STARBASE, visit dodstarbase.org.
