WCDS students design amusement park rides

Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly has announced that theme park King’s Dominion recently hosted students from around Virginia to spotlight rides the students designed.

Emerson Shepard, Connor Poe, Ben Cotter and Cooper Guiffre were on the winning team from WCDS, earning first place in the middle school division of the competition. Another team, from the upper school was awarded first place for its design, led by Kim Pankow, Brianna Johnson and Emily Hennessey.

Several other teams were awarded ribbons for their creativity in naming their roller-coaster and creating “the most terrifying” ride.

The competition is an annual event that has been hosted at King’s Dominion. WCDS teacher Ann Pankow has taken students from her physical science and physics classes for the past several years.
