Group plans Social Security events

The Friends of Handley Regional Library will host a series of “My Social Security” account sign-up events from Aug. 17-23. During this week, Social Security will participate at numerous events and activities across the country to raise awareness about the benefits of having a “My Social Security” account and to encourage the public to sign up for an account at http://www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount.

Events will be held at each of the library’s locations so that the public may choose a date and location that is most convenient. Dates, times and locations are:

• Monday, Aug. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Clarke County Public Library, 101 Chalmers Court, Berryville.

• Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Mary Jane & James L. Bowman Library, 871 Tasker Road, Stephens City

• Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Handley Library, 100 W. Piccadilly St., Winchester
