VDOT changes lanes for bridge work
Daily staff report
Motorists can expect changes in traffic patterns on roads near the U.S. 340-522 bridge over the South Fork of the Shenandoah River in Front Royal.
The Virginia Department of Transportation advises drivers of a lane shift south of the bridge. Crews also plan to close 18th Street to through traffic, with vehicles detoured onto North Royal Avenue and 17th Street. Drivers may still access homes and businesses on 18th Street, according to VDOT.
The changes will remain in effect for at least a year, allowing contractors to build new lanes of U.S. 340-522 to match the alignment of the new bridge. Work is weather permitting.
