VDOT road work for Aug. 11-15

The Virginia Department of Transportation reports the following road work this week:

SHENANDOAH COUNTY

Interstate 81

Mile marker 264 to 300, northbound and southbound: Debris removal, cleaning paved ditches and guard rail work. 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Mile marker 280 to 273, southbound: nighttime left lane closures, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., for guardrail upgrades and shoulder paving. Estimated completion Jan. 15.

Primary roads

Route 11, Strasburg: Flagger controlled lane closures for paving operations from Capon Street to Route 55, weather permitting. Estimated completion: Aug. 15.

Route 42: Utility tree trimming. Flagger control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.

Route 263 from Route 42 to 6.45 miles west of Route 42: Reflective pavement marker replacement/inspection in both directions. Work will occur mostly during daylight hours using a mobile work zone. Estimated completion: Sept. 15.

Secondary roads

Route 760 (Water Street): Flagger controlled traffic from Route 1403 to 0.30 mile east for bridge replacement over Stony Creek. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Estimated completion: June 2015.

Route 771 (Boyer Road, Fort Valley area): Road closed between Route 770 and Route 774 for slope adjustment work. Estimated completion: 3:30 p.m. Aug. 18. Detours: Northbound travel east on Route 770 (Dry Run Road), north on route 678 (Fort Valley Road), west on Route 774 (Frenchman Pond Road) to end of detour. Southbound travel east on Route 774 (Frenchman Pond Road), south on Route 678 (Fort Valley Road), west on Route 770 (Dry Run Road) to end of detour.

Various roads – Utility tree trimming. Flagger control during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.

Various roads – Mowing and drainage work, Monday to Friday.

FREDERICK COUNTY

Interstate 81

Mile marker 300 to 324, northbound and southbound: Debris removal and cleaning paved ditches. Pothole repairs as needed. 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday,

Primary roads

Route 7 from Winchester County Line to Clarke County Line: Reflective pavement marker replacement/inspection in both directions. Work will occur mostly during daylight hours using a mobile work zone. Estimated completion: Sept. 15.

Route 11: Alternating left lane closures northbound and southbound at Route 37 (JK Robinson Highway) over Route 11 for bridge inspection. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14.

Route 11: Line painting in both directions. Work will occur mostly during daylight hours using a mobile work zone. Work completion Aug.: 15.

Route 50 from end of four-lane to Route 688: Reflective pavement marker replacement/inspection in both directions. Work will occur mostly during daylight hours using a mobile work zone. Work completed Aug.: 15.

Route 277 from Route 11 to Route 522: Reflective pavement marker replacement/inspection in both directions. Work will occur mostly during daylight hours using a mobile work zone. Estimated completion Aug.: 15.

Route 522 from Winchester County line to West Virginia lLine: Reflective pavement marker replacement/inspection in both directions. Work will occur mostly during daylight hours using a mobile work zone. Estimated completion Aug.: 15.

Route 522: Shoulder closures northbound lane for the installation of fiber optic conduit between Route 679 and the West Virginia line. Estimated completion: Oct. 1.

Route 614 (Back Mountain Road): Closed 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 13 from Route 50 to 0.1 mile south of Route 50 for railroad crossing replacement. Detours: Southbound traffic will use Route 50 (Northwestern Pike) west to Route 600 (South Hayfield Road) south to Route 614. Northbound traffic will use Route 600 (South Hayfield Road) north to Route 50 (Northwestern Pike) east to Route 614.

Route 669 (Rest Church Road): Paving operations starting at the Route 11(Martinsburg Pike) intersection to 0.5 miles west of Route 11. Traffic controlled by flaggers. 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday to Friday. Estimated completion date: Aug. 15.

WARREN COUNTY

Interstate 66

Mile marker 0 to 15, westbound and eastbound: Debris removal and cleaning paved ditches. Pothole repairs as needed. 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Primary roads

Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway): Bridge replacement work over Gooney Creek from 0.67 miles south of Route 605 to 0.35 miles north of Route 605. Traffic controlled by flaggers 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Expect minor delays. Estimated completion: October 2015.

Route 340/522 (North Shenandoah Avenue/Winchester Road), from Duck Street to 17th Street: Old South Fork bridge replacement and interchange modification at Route 55 (Strasburg Road) and 340/522. Daily lane closures, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and nightly lane closures, 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday. Allow more time in daily commutes. Estimated completion: December 2017.

Various roads – Mowing. Monday to Thursday.

Secondary roads

Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road): Traffic controlled by flaggers 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for reconstruction of Route 603 from Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) to 0.5 miles north. Estimated completion: December.

Route 613 (Indian Hollow Road): Traffic controlled by flaggers 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for replacement of low water bridge over South Fork of Shenandoah River. Work zone from Route 628 to 0.35 miles north. Estimated completion: October.

Various roads – Pipe cleaning, Monday to Friday.
