Troop collects items for food pantry

American Heritage Girls Troop VA 1212 of Front Royal collected nonperishable food items and delivered 150 pounds of food to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry in observance of National Day of Service on Sept. 20.

The troop, chartered by Chelsea Academy, is a faith-based program for girls ages 5-18, according to a news release.

Forty-five troop members also decorated shoeboxes and filled them with personal care items for those in need.

“It’s a great way to kick start each new year, and we are thrilled to serve the needs of our community,” stated Paige Wadleigh, local troop coordinator. “The girls bring a joyful energy and a genuine desire to help others in every service project.”

Last year the troop spent National Day of Service organizing baby clothes at the Front Royal Pregnancy Center.
