Retired educators hold back to school breakfast

The Shenandoah County Retired Teachers Association held its annual back to school breakfast on Sept. 2 at Emanuel Lutheran Church​.

The association collected 514 food items and $290 for Luke’s Backpack. Members also collected 250 pounds of food and $44 in December for the Strasburg Food Pantry.

Association officers for 2014 are Karen Whetzel, president; Connie Fauber, vice president; Virginia Stultz, secretary; and Maryann Sherry, treasurer and vice president.

The group will meet in December and will collect food for the New Market Area Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.

Membership in the association is open to any retired educator. Members include retired teachers, administrators, secretaries, instructional assistants, nurses, custodians, bus drivers, and other education employees. Contact Whetzel at kswhetzel@gmail.com or 540-740-8589 for membership information.
