Lord Fairfax Community College’s speech/drama debate team brought home five first-place awards and placed fourth in overall team sweeps in the Collegiate Forensics Association’s first tournament of the year at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, N.C.
According to a news release, first-place team members and their awards are:
Zach Almquist, of Mount Jackson, single dramatic interpretation.
Sunniva Moore, of Linden, single dramatic interpretation and third in declamation.
Kelsey Owens, of Clearbook, poetry and third in persuasive speaking.
Rebekah Pennington, of Front Royal, informative speaking and fourth in single dramatic interpretation and sixth in declamation.
Colt Scott, of Strasburg, prose and declmation.
Other students participating were Kayla Duncan, of Stephens City, poetry; Tony Salazar, of Woodstock, declamation; and Derek Sawyer. of Woodstock, impromptu speaking.
