Rotary presents community service award

The Rotary Club of Front Royal has presented the annual Robert E. “Bob” Miller Community Service Award to John C. LaBarca, a club member since 1990.

According to a news release, the Rotary Club recognizes community members for their contributions to improving quality of life for the area’s citizens.

LaBarca, a former plant manager for the DuPont manufacturing facility in Warren County, has been involved in many community groups, including the Warren County Educational Endowment, the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority, Warren Memorial Hospital Board, Valley Health System Board, Front Royal-Warren Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and advisory board for Project Lead-The-Way.

Club President Ron Llewellyn said the Rotary Club is proud to honor Labarca.

“I can think of no one more deserving of this award this year than John. As a local leader of industry, John set the example for others to follow in being involved in helping to improve this community. We salute him and his dedication to the Front Royal-Warren County community,”
