The Skyline Quilters Guild hosted a special veteran’s event in November and gave red, white and blue handmade quilts to 12 members of the Strasburg American Legion Post 77 Honor Guard.

The quilts were a thank you to the veterans for “continuing to share their love with families, friends and country,” according to a release from the guild.

The guild has over 30 members from Shenandoah, Warren and Frederick counties. They meet the first Thursday of each month at the Strasburg Community Center and they make and donate more than a hundred charity quilts each year. Quilt recipients include Healthy Family Baby, DaVita Kidney Dialysis, Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warriors Campaign and Animal Rescue Organizations.

Members also hold quilting retreats and classes, and they volunteer at the Virginia Quilt Museum and provide quilts that are displayed at the Bowman Library in Frederick County. They also will be sponsoring next year’s Northern Shenandoah Valley Quilt Show.
