Local riders compete in horse show

Four local equestrians participated in the LTD Series Horse Show on Jan. 17 at Morven Park Equestrian Center in Leesburg.

Kynli Hoover, 7, competed in her first show riding Time Traveler, a Welsh pony. She competed in the Pre-Short Stirrup division for riders under 10 who demonstrated abilities at the walk, trot and two-point position. She placed third, second and second, respectively, and took home a Reserve Champion for the division. She is the daughter of Jared and Angela Hoover, of Edinburg.

Camryn MacDonald, 12, rode Chantilly Lace, an Appaloosa cross pony. She entered in the Short Stirrup division, in which riders show individually twice, navigating a course of four 18-inch jumps and finishing with a walk, trot and canter. She took fifth and sixth in the over-fences portion and took home a sixth place in the under saddle class. She is the daughter of Cliff and Tammy MacDonald, of New Market.

Allie Kahl, 16, rode Walkin’ On Sunshine, a thoroughbred Belgian cross gelding. She placed third, second and second in the Pleasure Horse division and also took home the Reserve Champion. She also placed second, first and first in the second division, Student Equitation, in which riders are judged on their position and control over a course of eight jumps in two different classes. She is the daughter of Jeff Kahl and Kathi Kahl, of Bryce.

Josie Woodwell, 17, traveled with the group to groom. She is the daughter of Bill and Kim Woodwell, of Maurertown.

The equestrians are students at Sunset Willow Stables in Edinburg and train under Anne Morrison of Woodstock, a member of the U.S. Equestrian Federation and a U.S. Pony Club graduate.
