County seeks shelter sponsors
Warren County is looking for civic groups, businesses or individuals interested in sponsoring a picnic shelter proposed for Rockland Park.
The county issued a request for proposals last month. Proposals are due by noon Thursday and should be delivered to County Administrator Douglas Stanley, 220 N. Commerce Ave., Suite 100, Front Royal, Va., 22630. Call 636-4600 for more information. Sponsors will be recognized with a plaque mounted on the shelter.
The county is building Rockland Park on the former Fishnet property off Rockland Road. The county bought the 219-acre parcel in 2009.
The county is looking to build a 26-foot by 32-foot shelter to accommodate approximately 35 people. The facility will be identical to the existing Rotary Club shelter at the park. Maintenance staff with the Warren County Parks and Recreation Department and work-release inmates from the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail will build the shelter. Each shelter is estimated to cost $15,000-$18,000 to build. The county will be willing to spread out the payment of the sponsorship over five years.
