Food Bank adds new communications chief

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank has announced that Abena Foreman-Trice has joined the nonprofit as its new director of communications.

She will be directing media relations, publications and digital content to build awareness about the Food Bank’s mission, service, needs and successes.

She comes to the Food Bank with more than 15 years of experience in both communications and journalism. She beganher career as a reporter for WVIR NBC 29. She also worked in the public  relations department at the University of Virginia Health System, has managed digital content at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and most recently worked for the United Way of Greater Augusta. She also is a founding partner of DLC Productions, which provides marketing support and digital communications to its parent company, DLC Image Consultants.

Foreman-Trice graduated from Norfolk State University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. She has a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. She lives in Waynesboro with her husband and three children.
