Dr. Morgan Phenix, of Stanley, received the 2015 Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy from Virginia Foundation for Community College Education on April 21 at the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond. The event honored leading philanthropists from each of Virginia’s 23 community colleges as well as the statewide foundation.
Phenix created the Page County High School Phenix Endowed Scholarship, served on the Lord Fairfax Community College board for eight years, served as principal of Page County High School for 16 years, served as associate vice president for instruction at LFCC from 2008 to 2012 and continues to assist LFCC at the Luray-Page County Center on a part-time basis.
This year’s class of philanthropy leaders has contributed a combined total of more than $12 million dollars to Virginia’s community colleges.
