Dr. Alla Y. Hynes
She has been a practicing ophthalmologist for 15 years and has been recognized by Consumers' Research Council of America as one of America's top ophthalmologists in 2010 and 2011. She received her medical degree from the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical Academy at St. Petersburg, Russia. While attending medical school, she studied abroad at the University of Pennsylvania on a scholarship from Russian Federation President B. Yeltsin. Hynes completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University, and completed her fellowship in ocular immunology and vveitis at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. For the past five years, Hynes has served as George Washington University's School of Medicine assistant professor and director of the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Division as well as chief of ophthalmology at the Department of Veteran's Administration, in Martinsburg W. Va. In this capacity, she was able to continue treating patients while also teaching ophthalmology residents in the clinic and performing eye surgeries with them. She has authored and co-authored several professional articles and is a certified trabectom surgeon, which is a new surgical technique for minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Hynes has also served on the Glaucoma Advisory Board and a regional clinical advisory board meeting for Lux Biosciences. She chose ophthalmology as her career because she considers the gift of sight to be the most precious and rewarding of our senses to experience the world around us. Hynes opened her private practice, Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons, in June 2011, at two locations: 755 South Main Street, Suite B01, Woodstock, and 158 Front Royal Pike, Suite 303, Winchester.
